The material is made from waste fish scales. The fish scales are made up of protein collagen. On boiling the fermentation of the collagen gives rise to resin like material. The denatures form of collagen can be plasticized when cooled down. This produces a very interesting material that has great textural properties. Combing the fish scales with Indian spice turmeric, a gradient of color is achieved. It is not water-resistant but is very strong in nature.
